Zed Destructive have an odd name, even if its logo looks nice, and this is their debut slab of slightly blackened Death Metal. I hear a bit of Deicide, a bit of Malevolent Creation, more than a bit of Behemoth and other usual influences on this kind of thing. The production is heavy and crisp, the playing is competent, and the songwriting is perfectly fine. The main problem is that there is almost nothing at all distinctive about this, nothing thematically or compositionally that stands out even the slightest bit. This is as middle-of-the-road as this kind of music can be, as there is nothing about it that has not been done a billion times. I don't dislike it, but there's nothing here you have not already heard done, and done better. |
