| This is some pretty cool black metal out of Nashville, Tennessee, of all places, a city more associated with country music than, well, just about anything else. Lenax's black metal does away with any kind of old-school worship or revival, sounding more modern and off the beaten path. Their approach is raw yet melodic and surprisingly catchy, not unlike what one would expect from a straight-up black 'n' roll band. Some of the guitar work is more like heavy metal, and by that I mean the more obscure and dark kind, not the happy-go-lucky stuff, which I still find interesting after more listens than I can be bothered to count. Overall the atmosphere of the album if dark, sometimes a little creepy but not too much. Infection is a varied album that never gets boring and works just as well whether you feel like headbanging or just kicking back and relaxing. Good stuff. | |||||||
