Never heard of this Peruvian band before, despite them having been around since 2014 with a few EPs released early on, and now their second full-length, the second in two years. With so many bands sounding all the same, it's nice to hear something different. This is heavy metal with some obvious roots in the old school, but it's also more modern without falling into the usual annoying trend. It's crunchy and aggressive, sometimes abrasive, sometimes doomy, and the singer has a knack for delivering mysterious/evil-sounding vocals that I found quite addictive all the way through. I wish I spoke Spanish, since they're singing about Inca culture. I like how they balanced more straightforward head-bobbing/air-guitaring/singalongesque heavy metal with something much less accessible and kind of creepy at times. I wouldn't go as far as to call this heavy/doom since some songs don't fit that, but some of the songs certainly do. No filler here, just solid stuff all the way through. |
