Other than knowing Circle II Circle as former Savatage singer Zak Stevens' band, I was almost completely unfamiliar with them prior to hearing Seasons Will Fall. Not really sure what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised by the furious riff that greeted my ears from opening track "Diamond Blade." Andrew Lee's guitar sound practically comes out of the speakers and starts throwing roundhouse punches at your ears. Then Zak starts singing. He has a powerful voice, no question, but he sounds tired and his delivery is just a bit "off," like the vocal lines were added to the songs with the occasional shoehorn for help. Some of the songs on Seasons Will Fall are quite good but a lot of the album comes across with a commercial, Whitesnake vibe. There are lots of slower tracks, especially toward the end. I think they even borrowed the piano Tommy Lee used on "Home Sweet Home" for one of the ballads. What cannot be denied is the excellence of Andrew Lee's guitar work. He provides the album's highlights, when the guitars are allowed center stage, and his solos are superb. So there it is; generic, poppy Power Metal and excellent guitar work. That's the short and sweet on Seasons Will Fall.
