Debut album for this Tasmanian band, and I am glad to see that Sodom-worship still has a home in the land Down Under. This is speedy, thrashing stuff that takes almost all its inspiration from In the Sign of Evil, mining that early vein of Thrash before the lines were firmly drawn and everything had a subgenre. Back in the days when Thrash, Speed, and proto-Black Metal all swirled around together in a primal, headbanging stew. This does best when it really keeps the pedal to the metal, but it sometimes suffers from a tendency to repeat riffs too much so that they lose their vibrant energy. The production is nicely primitive, with an overdriven, abrasive guitar sound and hollow croaking vocals. Overall this is a dirty, thrashing good time. |
