Hard to believe it's been six years since Cold Black Suns. Ashspawn is mostly in the same vein, filled with blasting, angry and demonic black metal. At times I'm reminded of some of the most recent Marduk albums. The vocals are in your face: loud, haunting, delivered with conviction and everything else falls in tow. This is a loud and busy album, not giving you much time to breathe despite some slower parts, which are no less demonic and chilling than the faster and more brutal music on offer. Much like Cold Black Suns, it's the atmosphere that's king. Cold, malevolent, demonic and powerful, it grabs you and doesn't let go until the end while you're being aurally assaulted by this violent slab of black metal with no means of escape. Like pure evil put on disc. This album was worth the six-year wait. See below for more reviews and interviews... ↓ |
