This is a reissue that seems to be a mix of the band's two demos from 1999, Anaal Nathrakh and Total Fucking Necro (no specific info was provided with the promo). Based on the description of the physical format over at the band's page, it does seem like a sweet package well worth getting for fans of the band. I'm more familiar with the band's more recent output, so this is interesting. I find the material much less chaotic and easier on the industrial aspect, but it's still pretty messed up, noisy black metal that will fuck with your mind and require several listens to take it all in. Insane out-of-this-world screechy vocals, mostly very fast music with a quasi-omnipresent screechy guitar sound that will clear the wax out of those ears. There's definitely more of a '90s black metal influence audible here than on what they did later, though the band were already doing their own thing, a very distinctive sound that's best described as "barely bringing order to the chaos." Strangely, a lot of this is actually kind of catchy and really sticks, which is not often the case for music this chaotic. If, like me, you became acquainted with the band in their later years and still haven't heard their early stuff, this is a good place to start. |
