I’ve been having a lot of fun with this album lately, that and Rising Steel’s previous album, Fight Them All, have been staples of my daily workouts. I can’t help but be reminded a little bit of Rising Steel’s countrymen KOB, which I covered some 20 years ago. This is very powerful heavy metal with a hint of thrash, very energetic and catchy. The opening title track has been stuck in my head since I first heard this a few weeks ago. The vocal lines are infectious, even when on occasion they don’t come off the way I expected them to. The singer has a powerful voice that almost overpowers the instruments. Sometimes that’s not so good, but here it just works. Lots of guitar work that just calls for the air guitar, and that’s also true for the drums at times. There’s nothing pretentious here, it’s clean and powerful heavy metal that’s deeply rooted in the old school but delivered with a modern touch. I’ve found it hard to switch to another album rather than just press play again when listen to this album.
