It's been a loooong time since I checked in with Krisiun, and the last album of theirs I reviewed was Southern Storm 16 fucking years ago. I have heard a few albums since then, but nothing that has really grabbed me. I mean, this album has been out for two years and I am just now getting around to it, so I have obviously not been paying attention. This has been one of the most stable, reliable bands ever, with the same lineup for over 30 years and even the same label since the year 2000. Krisiun are like a relic from another time.

Another way Krisiun are like a relic is that their style has never changed. This is furious, well-produced and well-played Death Metal with those scaling riffs the band has always used as the foundation for their sound. I think it sounds a little too clean for my taste, and I would like if the recording had a bit more underground feel and a bit more grit, especially in the guitar sound, but then this has always been a band that leaned on the drums to provide momentum and that hasn't changed. I don't think this is as well written as Conquerors of Armageddon or Ageless Venomous, but it still kicks ass.
